New Doors, Installed Right

Need a new door in Utah County? Phoenix Exteriors is a Provo-based exterior contractor that installs front and entry doors, sliding and French patio doors, storm doors, and pet doors across Utah County and the south end of the Salt Lake Valley. Every job starts with a free, written estimate.

A door is only as good as the opening it sits in. We check the frame, sill and threshold for rot and out-of-square framing before recommending anything, because a new door hung in a bad opening drafts, sticks and leaks just like the old one did.

Signs It's Time for a New Door

  • You can feel cold air or see daylight around the edges when it is closed.
  • It sticks, drags, or needs a shoulder to latch.
  • The bottom of the door or the sill is soft, swollen or rotted.
  • The patio door is hard to slide or the glass has fogged between the panes.
  • The finish is peeling or sun-faded and refinishing no longer holds.
  • The lock or latch no longer lines up.
What We Install

Doors We Install

  • Front & Entry Doors

Fiberglass, steel or wood, with or without glass and sidelights. A new entry door fixes drafts, sticking and a worn-out look at once, and it is the first thing anyone sees.

Good fit when: the door drafts, sticks, has a failing finish, or you want a new look.

  • Patio Doors

Sliding and hinged French-style patio doors. A new slider that glides, locks properly and seals out winter air is one of the biggest day-to-day improvements in a house.

Good fit when: the slider drags, the glass has fogged, or cold air comes in around it.

  • Storm Doors

A second door in front of your entry, with glass for winter and a screen for summer. It protects the entry door from weather and lets air through without leaving the house open.

Good fit when: the entry takes weather head-on, or you want a screened breeze.

  • Pet Doors

Let the dog or cat come and go without you on door duty. We will talk through size, placement and how the pet door works with your existing or new door.

Good fit when: you are tired of being the doorman.

How It Works

Our Door Installation Process

  1. 01

    Free Estimate & Measure

We measure the opening, check the frame, sill and threshold, and talk through what you want the door to do. You get a written, itemized estimate.

  2. 02

    Choose the Door

Material, style, glass, color and hardware. For patio doors, sliding versus hinged. For pet doors, size and placement.

  3. 03

    Order & Schedule

We order the door and schedule the install once it arrives.

  4. 04

    Remove & Inspect

The old door comes out and the opening is checked. Rot at the sill or framing gets fixed before the new door goes in, not covered over.

  5. 05

    Set, Seal & Adjust

The new door is set level and plumb, sealed against air and water, and adjusted so it swings or slides smoothly and latches without force.

  6. 06

    Walk-Through

We test the door and lock with you, clean up, and leave you the manufacturer's warranty paperwork.

Common Questions

Door FAQ

What kinds of doors do you install?

Front and entry doors, patio doors (sliding and hinged French-style), storm doors, and pet doors. We can replace a single door or handle doors alongside a window, siding or roofing project so the whole exterior is done by one crew.

Should I choose a fiberglass, steel or wood entry door?

Fiberglass is a popular choice for Utah homes: it resists dents, does not rot or warp, and can be finished to look like wood. Steel is strong and usually the most budget-friendly, but it can dent and needs its finish kept up where it is scratched. Wood looks and feels the best and costs the most, and it needs regular refinishing, especially on a door that takes afternoon sun. We will bring options to the estimate and tell you which fits your entry.

Sliding or French patio door?

A sliding door saves floor space because nothing swings into the room, and it is usually the simpler replacement. Hinged French-style doors open the full width and change the look of a room, but they need clearance to swing. If your current slider sticks, drafts or has fogged glass, a new unit usually fixes all three.

Can you add a pet door?

Yes. Tell us about your pet and where they need to get through, and we will recommend where the pet door should go and how it fits with the door you have or the one you are replacing.

Is a storm door worth it?

A storm door adds a layer of protection for your entry door and, with a screen panel, lets you get a breeze through the front of the house without leaving the door wide open. It is most useful on entries exposed to weather. Before adding one over an existing entry door, check that door's warranty. Therma-Tru, for example, says a properly installed and properly vented storm door will not void its entry door warranty, but it will not cover damage the storm door causes. Venting matters, especially on an entry that takes afternoon sun.

How much does a new door cost?

It depends on the door type, material, size, glass, hardware, and whether the frame and sill need work. We measure the opening, check the frame, and give you a written, itemized estimate at no charge before you commit to anything.
